COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program

FAQ's & PHONE HELP

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ARE APPLICATIONS APPROVED ON A FIRST-COME BASIS?

  • NO - Applications are all treated equally and approval is based on ability to pay rent. Applications are due by Sunday August 16, 2020 midnight. As long as your application is submitted it will be assessed for approval. NOT ALL APPLICANTS can be approved. There is limited funding. You must demonstrate that you have a need for rental assistance. Simply being "income qualified" is not enough to qualify for this COVID-19 specific program.

DO I QUALIFY IF I'M ON DISABILITY?

  • Not necessarily. Someone in your household needs to have lost a job or work hours or self-employment income due to the COVID-19 Pandemic shut-down. If your household was not affected, you will not qualify for this program.

WHAT BANK STATEMENTS DO I NEED TO UPLOAD?

The bank statements that will show us how your income was affected.

  • SELF EMPLOYED - October 2019 through July 2020

  • EMPLOYEE (you do NOT work for yourself) - January and February 2020 before your job was affected by COVID-19 and two consecutive months where your income was affected by COVID-19. (If you lost your job or hours in March then we want to see March and April 2020 bank statements. OR any two consecutive months since February that will show your income loss.)

WHAT IF I'M A TEACHER?

  • Chances are your income was NOT affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic closures. If this is the case, you will NOT qualify.

  • NOT EMPLOYED ALL SUMMER - This is normal every year. Under normal circumstances it will NOT be considered COVID-19 related.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A COPY OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY CARD?

  • If you've filed taxes and have provided a copy of your tax return that clearly shows the Head of Household's Social Security number and spouse or dependents then a copy of your Social Security cards will not be necessary.

  • If you do not file income taxes then provide a statement that you do not have a copy of your Social Security card.

WHAT IF I'M NOT A U.S. CITIZEN?

  • If you have authorization to work here and have a Social Security number you will be able to receive benefits. You do need to be aware of the regulations regarding being a "Public Charge". You do NOT want to jeopardize your citizenship, so please be aware of how this may affect you.

  • ITIN - If you are a worker with an ITIN, at least one person in your household AND on your lease/rental agreement must have a valid Social Security number. Please be aware of the "Public Charge" statement above.

I SAVED MY APPLICATION AND CAME BACK TO UPLOAD MORE

  • The system saves what you've uploaded into one file, so you won't see all that you have uploaded.

  • If you want to add to the upload it is okay to include that new/additional information in another UPLOAD box, even if it isn't under the same category. WE WILL BE ABLE TO FIND IT

  • Don't worry, if you upload it, we will be able to see it.

  • You will need to resign any pages previously signed.
